Elaine Kirton – Business Owner

Elaine Kirton is doubly qualified with degrees in Sport Science and Physiotherapy together with a Sports Massage Diploma from the Welsh Institute of Sport. She is fully equipped to assess, diagnose, treat, and rehabilitate musculoskeletal and orthopaedic problems from the young adolescent to the octogenarian. She has a special interest in sports injuries, post fracture and post-operative rehabilitation.

Education and Qualifications.
Graduating in 1998 from University of West of England in Bristol, she has worked within the NHS in the NW of England and as a Civilian Physiotherapist within the Army Primary Healthcare Service for the British Army in Gloucestershire and Wiltshire. She now works in private practice and has done since 2010.

Kirton Physiotherapy: Recover | Rehab | Retrain opened its doors in January 2013 and has been welcoming patients through them ever since.

International and Elite

Elaine has worked with Whitehaven Warriors Rugby League Squad, GB Women Rugby League, Men’s England RL, English Schools’ RL screening U14’s/U15’s/U16’s youth for Regional and National camps for five years. She has achieved over 20 international caps, largely being part of the winning team and reached the semi-finals of the inaugural Women’s RL World Cup in 2003.

During her time with the MoD, she worked with the Royal Logistic Corps Rugby Union Men’s and Women’s Squads and the Royal Artillery Downhill Ski Team, plus all sports at regimental level and military skills/endurance competitions. With these squads, she has gone on tour to Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Cyprus and France.

Elaine has volunteered for the 2002 Commonwealth Games, 2004 and 2012 Olympic Games. She has been Venue Physio for Horse Guards Parade and Earls Court covering pitch side and athlete medical for Beach and Indoor Volleyball. In Athens, she worked in the physio department within the Olympic Village. She was given the opportunity to treat the whole Olympic family of athletes, ball girls/boys, umpires and officials, cameramen, cheer leaders and dancers.

In 2014, she worked with a very successful England Rowing Squad at the Commonwealth Championships in Strathclyde and in 2015, GB Rowing at high altitude training camp in Spain prior to the squad going to Rio.

Personal achievements

Personally, she has circumnavigated the world in the Clipper 09/10 Round the World Yacht Race, rowed in Club Fours at Women’s Henley, dragon boat raced from Sea to City in Cork, ski guided, taught swimming, cross-country skied along the King’s Trail in the Arctic Circle, walked 50km in the Dutch Ameland and hiked in the Himalayas.

For her own training, she practices functional strength and conditioning, running 5km parkruns and 10km events, rowing machine ergos and Stand-Up Paddle Boarding.
